Tonight's film in this season of comedy films stars Betty Hutton, Eddie Bracken with William Demarest, Diana Lynn

Trudy Kockenlocker hit her head jitterbugging and can't remember anything except she thinks she married a soldier. Pregnant, and with no evidence of a wedding, she tells her childhood sweet-heart Norval Jones, who tries to help - and how!
So begins the story of the wildest of all the Preston Sturges comedies - and the only one of these classics not yet seen on BBC-tv.
As well as hilarious performances from the stars, two fugitives from The Great McGinty - Brian Donlevy and Akim Tamiroff - put in guest appearances.

by William Trevor
Starring Faith Brook and Gwen Ffrangcon-Davies

A mysterious, uninvited guest at a fashionable party gradually involves the other guests in her personal tragedy.
Novelist and short-story writer William Trevor has again written a play with a really strong leading role for an actress. His last Wednesday Play, A Night with Mrs Da Tanka, was especially praised for Jean Kent's performance. Tonight it's Faith Brook's turn in the role of the mysterious Anna.
