Britain has the most highly mechanised agriculture in the world and the range and sophistication of machines grows year by year, so that new skills are continually being required of the farm machinery operator. This new series of ten programmes is aimed at helping the man who sits in the driver's seat to acquire more quickly the new skills of maintenance and operation.
Introduced by Bill Wheeler

Peter Hulbert gives some hints to the driver on farm maintenance and demonstrates how the big enemy of this basic farm power unit is, in fact, dirt.

A new film series by Heinz Sielmann
Commentary by Peter Scott
Five programmes about the wildlife of the New World, ranging from the snow and ice of the Canadian Arctic and Alaska to the tropical luxuriance of the Florida Everglades.

For the last film in his series Heinz Sielmann is in Florida. The location is the Everglades - a vast sprawling swampland inhabited by primeval reptiles and graceful exotic birds. Here Sielmann is especially fascinated by the alligators fighting, mating, and stalking their prey. He is intrigued too by the marshland birds, many of which use extraordinary fishing and feeding techniques. Sielmann gives science a film record of their remarkable behaviour.

by Robert Barr
[Starring] Stratford Johns as Det. Chief Supt. Barlow, Frank Windsor as Det. Chief Insp. Watt, Philip Brack as Det. Insp. Cook, Norman Bowler as Det.-Sgt. Hawkins,
Dan Meaden as Det.-Con. Box

"I've always liked that old story of George Hirst," says Barlow, but is a cricketing anecdote a sound basis of policy for rounding up a gang of criminals? Watt doesn't think so. And Hawkins, working on an undercover job as a lorry driver at some risk to himself, has personal reasons for questioning Mr. Barlow's 'singles' policy.
