Lawrence Shove, following in the footsteps of Ludwig Koch, is now the only full-time freelance recordist of wildlife sounds in Britain. He works alone, hunting with a microphone to capture on tape the voices of wild nature.
He has to be up before the lark to catch its joyful liquid notes as it rises to meet the dawn, and wait for hours for the tide to drop to enter a sea-cave where there may be a newly born seal pup.
