A weekly programme by the young for the young in heart

"The chief feature of 'How It Is' is tolerance... it has original regulars such as John Peel whose attitudes are such as I have despaired of ever seeing so coherently expressed on TV." (The Darlington Northern Echo)

Angela Huth
with Richard Neville, John Peel, Tony Palmer, Ronald Fletcher, The Spinners, and guests
'This week is our seventeenth edition!' says producer Tony Palmer. 'Not much, really, but if you could see the pile of abusive letters and complaining telegrams we have had you would think we had been around for years. And when you think of the amazing collection of people we have lured to our tiny studio in just three months you would get the same impression: Simon Dee, Orson Welles, Joe Cocker, Tony Curtis, Cliff Richard, Leonard Bernstein, Lord Snowdon, so on and so on. We are sorry if you get angry with us, but in a way we're glad because we do want you to be involved. It's your programme as much as ours - so keep watching!'

by David Campton
starring Diana Dors as Megan Norton-Grey
with Ray Brooks as Clive, Marty Cruickshank as Sally, Robert James as the Doctor

Megan Norton-Grey, a hard-bitten alcoholic widow, blames her daughter Sally for the death of her husband, who was killed in a car crash when Sally was only seven years old.
Sally is now in her late teens and living in semi-isolation with her mother. Then she meets a young man, Clive, and falls in love with him. Her mother opposes the relationship forcefully, and at times hysterically, but to no avail...
Diana Dors, making one of her rare acting appearances on television, stars as Megan, and Marty Cruickshank, daughter of Andrew Cruickshank of Dr. Finlay fame, plays Sally. Ray Brooks, who starred in one of the most successful of the last Boy Meets Girl series, The Raging Moon, plays Clive.

A Friday ticket to jive, judge, or just enjoy the new two-part inter-regional competition organised by Mecca Dancing
Peter West introduces
First half of South of England v. North of England

Tonight Come Dancing viewers will see the first half of the North v. South contest in the current competition.
It is interesting to note that in last year's series the North just failed to make the final when they lost on a Chairman's decision in the semi-final, while the South team failed to get into the second round for exactly the same reason.
