In 1871 and 1873 William Morris toured the Saga Steads of Iceland, recording his impressions in two journals. This summer D. G. Bridson visited many of the same places. The Cuban revolution has stirred the Latin-American republics more strongly than any event since their break with Spain. The implications for North America have been scarcely less dramatic. In his first talk Hugh Thomas , author of a forthcoming book on Cuba, speaks on the search since 1898. the year of Cuban independence, for some kind of institutional stability.
