by Albert Camus
Paul Scofield reads Justin O'Brien's English version of "La Chute"
Narrative edited by Harry Moore

A one-time Paris barrister, now spending his days and nights in a bar in the sailors' quarter of Amsterdam, meets a compatriot and tells him the story of his life, expressing modern man's hypocrisy, his need for justice, and the hope that, when judged, he be judged innocent. In the figure of this self-styled 'judge-penitent' Camus has created one of the most disturbing characters of our time.
