by John Golding author of Cubism
For most young painters today, bred on abstract expressionism, Picasso is an old master rather than an active influence. John Golding looks at his late work in relationship to other developments m post-war painting, and tries to assess to what extent it may provide a tresn inspiration to painters of the future. A large retrospective exhibition of Picasso's work opened today at the Tate Gallery.
