Latimer was martyred on October 16, 1555. This poem, which was awarded the Cambridge Seatonian Prize for 1955, is in the form of a monologue spoken by Latimer on the eve of his death.

Jacksonian Professor of Natural Philosophy in the University of Cambridge Professor Frisch reviews the report that the fundamental particle suggested by theory-the anti-proton-has now been discovered. Positive and negative electrons have been known for some time, but the new particle, the negative analogue of the nucleus of the hydrogen atom, has so far eluded discovery.
