The two related religions of Judaism and Christianity both rest on the idea of a divine choice, and both see that choice in a universal framework. In this broadcast version of the Charles Gilkey Lecture, Dr. Parkes shows how the concept developed in the two religions and the different emphasis they have placed on the nature of the choice. Despite the common basis, the two religions differ in almost every conceivable emphasis and interest.
