Graham Whettam, who was born in 1927, is mainly self-taught as a composer, though he received help and advice from Eric Fenby. His Concertino for oboe and strings, one of several he has written for wind instruments, is dedicated to Jaap Stotijn, principal oboist of the Rewidentie Orchestra. It is in three short movements, which are connected thematically.
