The Harvey Phillips
String Orchestra
(Leader, Hugh Bean )
Conductor, .Harvey Phillps
The Harvey Phillips String Orchestra-heard in the Third Programme last May -was formed almost exactly a year ago. Since then it has given many concerts in London and the surrounding districts. Amongst its twenty members are many well-known chamber music p'ayers and also a number of the most promising artists of the rising generation. The orchestra aims at giving at each concert, either a contemporary work, or an opportunity for a young British player: tonight's concert includes a new work by Harvey Phillips' wife, Pamela Harrison.
