Master of the Music. Kenneth Malcolmson
The cathedral church of St. Nicholas in Newcastle-upon-Tyne inherits the earliest traditions of Christianity in the North, recalling the days of King Oswald and St. Aidan, first Bishop of Lindisfarne in 635; though Danish invasions in the ninth century caused the bishopric to be moved 10 Durham. When the Newcastle diocese was created in 1882 St. Nicholas' became the cathedral church.
