Today's talk will carry on the story of the Jews from that fateful point in their history when Jerusalem was destroyed. After that the centre of Jewish history moved to Babylon, where the law of Judaism was framed and enshrined in the books of Talmud.
Jews were found elsewhere in the world, notably in Egypt, Abyssinia, and in various parts of Europe where they had been sold as slaves by the conquering Romans. You will hear about this spread of the Jewish people' north, south, east, and west from Palestine, and learn how, although dispersed, they were united as one people through their religious steadfastness.
