'Refugees'
Sir John Hope Simpson , K.B.E.
This morning's speaker is one of the country's greatest experts on the refugee question, and he will deal with some of the outstanding problems that have recently arisen in Britain and abroad through the influx of refugees from certain countries. Sir John will not confine himself to the present, but will also discuss the refugee question as it has occurred from time to time in earlier history.

Today's generation of children will, when it grows up, have no memories of Alexandra Palace previous to its present function as the BBC's television station. But this afternoon's speaker, who has been a Muswell Hill resident all his life, remembers the Palace of other days, when it was one of the gayest centres in North London. Great exhibitions were held there, choir festivals, and stunts of all kinds. Blondin walked the tight-rope there, and the famous parachutist, Baldwin, did exhibition jumps.
