(All arrangements by Julius Kantrovitch )
Julius Kantrovitch , violinist and conductor, formed the orchestra with which he broadcasts, two years ago. Numbering ten players, including himself, it consists of three violins, viola, bass, cello, piano, piano accordion doubling with celeste, guitar, and conductor.
Kantrovitch has had a long and varied experience as violinist and conductor. Son of a famous singer, he was destined from an early age for a musical career. He studied under the great violinist Willy Hess , and at nineteen joined the Royal Carl Rosa Opera Company, and thereafter a provincial symphony orchestra.
Many listeners will remember him and his orchestra for their performances at the old Hotel Cecil. Kantrovitch has a special flair for arranging, and is responsible for the effective style of almost all the items broadcast by his band.
