' The Belaiev Circle ', formed about the middle of the 1880's, consisted of Rimsky-Korsakov and a group of young ex-pupils of his who used to meet in the house of the wealthy music-lover, Belaiev. Belaiev began by printing his young friends' compositions at his own expense and eventually founded one of the biggest music-publishing firms in Russia.
