by GEOFFREY WEBB

Geoffrey Webb talks about the philosophy, theology, and iconography which helped shape this masterpiece of Abbot Suger 's patronage; and in particular, about the effects of this Gothic forerunner of 1144 on such embodiments of tradition as St. Bernard and the stable masses of the Romanesque style.
' The Abbot Dies,' by Malcolm Quantrill , with music by Elisabeth Lutyens: Tuesday at 9.50
