The story, in recorded sound, of the arrival in England of refugee children from Germany and of their life in camp near Harwich.
The van visited the refugee camp near Harwich during the cold spell before Christmas. Recording officials worked under great difficulties as the extreme cold froze the records, and when an electric radiator was fitted in the van a hum was produced and the radiator had to be disconnected when a record was actually being made.
Material, however, was successfully collected and will be presented tonight without any links in the way of comperes or commentators. The records are, in fact, going to speak for themselves, presenting a picture of these child fugitives, of the lives they have left, their impressions of England, their plans for the future.

The action of this charming little jeu d'esprit takes place in the villa of a Piedmontese nobleman, Count Gil, about the middle of last century. Count Gil enters his wife's boudoir and is assailed by the faint aroma of tobacco. His suspicions are immediately aroused and he gives vent to his anger and jealousy-such is the feeling of the time towards any hint of a wife's departure from the strict code of morals. Eventually it appears that Susanna has not been receiving a male visitor, but has merely been indulging in cigarette smoking. Her secret is discovered-a weakness for smoking-but she is forgiven, and the curtain goes down on husband and wife smoking their cigarettes together.
