Maria Marova (soprano)
ORCHESTRA
Chcirles Brill , whose orchestra has lately become so popular over the air, is of Hungarian extraction. He studied the violin at Budapest and conducting at Basle under Weingartner. For a while Brill conducted light opera at Basle and on his return to England toured as conductor with the Royal Carl Rosa Opera Company. In 1934-5 he went to Russia and conducted a number of radio concerts.
About a year ago Brill formed his own orchestra consisting of some of the finest players in London ; for instance. Max Salpeter (leader), George Roth (cello), John Francis (flute), Alec Whittaker (oboe).
