There are Christians on the one hand who say that the Church should not meddle with politics, and there are those on the other hand who say that the present order of society must be overthrown in the name of Christianity ; but between these extremes there is a very large number of Christians who feel permanently uncomfortable about such obvious iUs as unemployment and bad housing. It is hoped that they will get from Mr. Reckitt's fundamental examination of the problem the guidance that they seek.
Mr. Reckitt is to give the first of three talks on this subject today, and the remaining two are on May 24 and June 7.
A practising medical psychologist
It will be remembered that on April 19 the Rev. J. Maillard gave the first talk of this trilogy on Spiritual Healing, and that on May 3 the Rev. J. P. Arendzen gave the second. Today a medical psychologist is to wind up the series. It should be understood that he is a professed Christian, whose Harley Street training enables him to speak with authority on this intricate subject.

It is designed on purely classical lines. The first movement is dramatic in character and the first subject bears a certain resemblance to the music associated with Amneris in Aida. The second movement is simple and graceful and the principal subject foreshadows a passage in the first act of Falstaff. The movement in scherzo form has an operatic flavour with its melodramatic agitation. The last movement is considered the best of the four. ' In essence ', says Francis Toye, ' it consists of a single idea, treated and developed with marked ingenuity, which unmistakably suggests the rapid chatter of the women in Falstaff'.

An evening chorus of British birds is to be heard in Britain today, and on Wednesday between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m. a morning chorus of British birds is to be broadcast to the Empire.

An appeal on behalf of THE CHURCH LADS' BRIGADE, by Field Marshal Sir CLAUD JACOB ,

The Church Lads' Brigade is the ' Church Missionary Society ' to adolescent lads, and employs uniform and drill both to appeal to their romantic sense, and to deepen the discipline it would inculcate in them. The Brigade does not aim at training lads for national emergency, and is not a cadet force.
It seeks to make good citizens only in so far as good Christians are always the best citizens.
Drill is but the framework of Company activities. The greater time is spent on physical training, games, sports, and other recreations. In the summer camps the same ideal is aimed at.
