Professor J. A. SCOTT WATSON (Professor of Rural Economy in the University of Oxford)
Tonight Professor Scott Watson will talk of his recent journey from Oxford to Lewes by way of Horsham, Maidstone, and Romney Marsh , and back again to Oxford through Aldershot. He will show how the changes that are taking place in England today are affecting fruit growing and the hop industry. Fruit research, the hop scheme and the National mark will all be touched on. Professor Scott Watson will conclude with a discussion between himself and the Secretary of one of the Rural Community Councils, and it should interest listeners to hear the point of view-the difficulties, needs, aims and so forth-of one who lias rural problems to contend with.
