A Dialogue Story by Phyllis Morgan
with Incidental Music by The Western Studio Orchestra
or 'Love in a Dutch Garden'
by Laurence Housman and H. Granville-Barker
Dramatis Personae:
First, Second and Third Gardener Boy
Love, a Statue
Music by Joseph Moorat
Played by The Western Studio Orchestra
Laurence Housman and H. Granville-Barker both belong to the West Country, and wrote this exquisite little fantasy at Campden, in Gloucestershire, where Joseph Moorat, the composer of the music, lived. For all its disguise, the West Country
setting of Prunella is discernible; the gardeners are plainly Gloucestershire men and, indeed, it was the box hedges of Joseph Moorat's garden which helped to inspire the play. It is, therefore, particularly appropriate that tonight's performance should be given by players drawn exclusively from the West Country.
