This is the BBC's first broadcast from the Oulton Park Circuit, near Chester, and the occasion is one of the most historic events in .the motor-racing calendar. This is the first time the race for the British Empire Trophy has been run at Oulton. It will be its fourth home: previous races have taken place at Brooklands, Domngton, and in the Isle of Man.

Geoffrey Duke , Ray Amm. Eric Oliver , Cyril Smith , Pip Harris , Bill Lomas , Bob McIntyre , Derek Farrant , Bob Keeler , Cecil Sandtford and scores of (other stars, together witth many a clubman out 10 make a name for himself, will be :n aotion today. In addition to the works '-Gilera, Norton, A.J.S., and M.V. machines there win be many interesting specials ' including the unorthodox Earles-Bodd:ce Norton combination and a-t least two production machines making their first Tacing appearance* — the 500 c.c. MSS Velocette ridden by Cecil Sandford , and the 500 c.c. four-cylinder Wooler ridden by Arnold Jones.
