2 —'From Open Hustings to Secret Ballot' by K. C. Boswell
In his second talk K. C. Boswell reminds us that parliamentary elections by secret ballot are less than a hundred years old. He tells us about the open hustings and illustrates his point from ' Pickwick Papers ' by Charles Dickens.
Cecil Norman and the Rhythm Players
Script by Joan Carr-Jones
To be repeated tomorrow at 11.0 am. Last week Gwen arrived home from France and started her new job as secretary to Richard Fulton , the famous author. Maggs rushed over to Parkwood Hill to say he had found Mrs. Freeman in lodgings in Kenton. Mrs. Dale went and saw her mother and persuaded her to come back to her flat again. Mrs. Dale found all her strawberries were dead; Monument admitted putting weed killer on them thinking it was fertiliser. Bob went to see Esmond Barr who was ill with a tropical fever which he had contracted while in a prison camp in the East.
