First of two talks by Percival R. Kirby
The East Indiaman Grosvenor, homeward bound, was wrecked and totally lost off the eastern Cape in 1782. Professor Kirby has for many years been pursuing every document, relic, and legend about the ship. He describes how he has reconstructed an extraordinarily detailed picture of life on board, of the disaster, and of the tragic party of survivors who attempted to walk hundreds of miles to safety.
