Vicky had persuaded Kate to go with her to Paris but when she came to take Kate to the airport she found her unconscious, having taken an overdose of sleeping pills. Kate was rushed to hospital, dangerously ill, and she kept asking for David. Gwen told him he should go to Kate and that their marriage was ruined anyway. He went to the hospital but was not allowed to see her.

The short story by Joan Aiken adapted as a play for radio by Felix Felton
Produced by Norman Wright
When a pretty young girl gets hiccups on top of a bus and a handsome young man plays the gallant, life is bound to look up. Especially when there is another breezy suitor in the offing, and a 'telly-quiz' Dad and a bad-tempered parrot and a lively Alsatian puppy and a temperamental well-pump thrown into the farce
