A gramophone miscellany including some of the latest issues
by Vera Burtt
The first time the speaker saw Gravesend Reach was more than twenty years ago. Walking out of Tilbury station on to the sea-wall, she was amazed to find herself at the seaside. A beautiful white passenger ship bound for Australia was easing her way out into the fairway under the guidance of a couple of tugs. Since then Vera Burtt has looked at that scene more times than she can count: it never fails to give her the same feeling of excitement.
