Mrs. Matheson was in Kabul last year for the Festival of Jaishun in which the Afghans celebrate their independence.
Afghanistan is receiving advice and assistance from East and West. The resulting contrasts between modern installations and the still primitive life of the tribesmen forms the background to this description of wild sports, ancient customs, and irrigation schemes.
