At last the gossip concerning her fiance, Philip Bosinney , comes to the ears of June, and pocketing her pride she determines to visit him and question him about Soames's wife Irene, with whom he is reported to be in love. He is not there, however, and nothing has been gained by her visit.
Meanwhile, unable to bear her husband's attitude any longer, Irene asks to be allowed to go. Soames merely laughs at the suggestion. He is very much taken up with the fact that Bosinney has exceeded by four hundred pounds the amount agreed upon for the house at Robin Hill , and decides to hold him responsible.
5-D-Day in Buchenwald by Christopher Burney
The speaker was doing Intelligence work when he was caught by the Germans. They sent him to Buchenwald Concentration Camp only five months before D-Day, but it was ten months after the Normandy landings that he first heard the Allied guns. Even then there remained two weeks during which the thousands of prisoners, of all the countries of Europe, bordering on starvation, almost despaired that the American Army would arrive in time.
