Three talks by C. Ambrose Lewis
1—' Ordeal by Steam '
The speaker recalls his experience of relief work in Greece after both wars. In 1922, when he was working for the American R:d Cross, he was called to deal with two outbreaks of Typhus among refugees. He knew nothing about typhus except that it had killed a nwllion people in Russia. But in a flurry of steam sterilisation and cloth:ng distribution the outbreaks were brought under control.
