Isotopes by Frederick Soddy , F.R.S. lately Professor of Chemistry in the University of Oxford Winner of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1921 Few people had heard of isotopes till the end of World War II, but it was the work of Professor Soddy in the early part of this century that created the necessity for the new word ' isotope.' In his talk the speaker goes back to those exciting days in the history of chemistry when many preconceived ideas about atoms were being swept away.
