The middle 'twenties might be justifiably called the ' Golden Age of Jazz Then it was that jazz was brought to its highest and most generally appreciated pitch. On the Continent, in America, and in Britain the great names of 1925-27 were familiar to a public which danced as it never danced before and has never danced since.
Tonight's trio of big names is a notable one. Ben Pollack is one of the greatest of all jazz drummers, while there are few who would deny Jack Teagarden pride of place as ace jazz trombonist. Benny Goodman , clarinetist, has had enormous influence in the moulding of the story of jazz, and has been responsible for making some of the most remarkable of all ' hot' records.
