Emit Waldteufel was born at Strasbourg 103 years ago today. In his centenary year and in 1938 Stanford Robinson and the BBC Theatre Orchestra honoured his memory with concerts of his music, and Waldteufel's son, Henri, told some delightful stories of his father's life.
Unhappily, since the battle of France the son has not been heard of, although previously he had written regularly to his father's publishers.
