Conductor, George Walter
Though this is his first pianoforte recital for the BBC, Ivor Newton is anything but a stranger to the microphone. He has broadcast on innumerable occasions since the early days at Savoy Hill, where he accompanied Tetrazzini, Ysaye, and other famous people at their radio debuts. At Broadcasting House he has accompanied some of the world's greatest artists and collaborated in many chamber-music concerts. He has also given several talks on his reminiscences and travels, both for radio and television; and has broadcast piano recitals a number of times from Australia, India, Canada, and the United States - but never for the BBC!
