From 1929 onwards he sang regularly at the Three Choirs Festivals ; for three years played leads at Sadler's Wells ; sang for years at the Proms and the principal tenor roles in Royal Albert Hall productions ... and then suddenly and unexpectedly appeared in a summer show at Blackpool, On with the Show.
