Dress Sense: Birmingham Final
at 2.45
The next stage in the BBC's Best Dress Sense Competition so far as the Midland Region is concerned will be reached this afternoon when the six Midland semi-finalists appear in the Birmingham studio in the outfits they have selected. They will be judged by a panel of fashion experts under the chairmanship of Doreen Stephens, Editor of Women's Television Programmes. The outfits they will wear were all bought at a Birmingham store and none cost more than thirty pounds. When the regional preliminary heats were held at Birmingham, the judges were impressed not only by the evident enthusiasm of the entrants but by the many walks of life from which they came. Incidentally, the competitors do not pay for their outfits. They remain the property of the store or of the BBC. The winner will be presented with the outfit she has chosen. The Midland winner will go forward to the final in London which will be televised on December 16. Those appearing this afternoon are: Mrs. McNaughton and Mrs. Troop of Sutton Coldfield, Mrs. Anne Hughes of Evesham, Mrs. Iris Morris of Darlaston, Mrs. F. M. Barratt of Barnet Green, and Mrs. Constance Fox of Leicester.

After all, someone's got to win them, and why not Tony? Maybe Sid has an answer to that one.
