Easter weekend is the traditional time for the British to get to work in their gardens and today Percy Thrower suggests jobs to do over the holiday.
F. P. Knight, the Director of the Royal Horticultural Society's Gardens at Wisley, introduces a subject particularly appropriate at this time. He shows some of the plants mentioned in the New Testament, several of which have been specially flown from the Holy Land for the programme.

A cycle of plays on the Life of Our Lord.

When Caiaphas, the High Priest, learned that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem for the Passover Festival he called a meeting of the Council of the Sanhedrin to decide what was to be done with this 'prophet of Nazareth' who was causing such a disturbance among the people and the religious life of the country; and although opinion was divided, Caiaphas was convinced of his duty. 'It is to your advantage', he said to the Priests and Pharisees, 'that one man should die for the people rather than that a whole nation should perish'. Meanwhile through wildly cheering crowds Jesus rode into the city.
