On September 6, 1620, a group of travellers set out from Plymouth in the Mayflower to find a new land across the sea where they could worship God in the way they chose. After a terrible crossing they landed at Plymouth Rock in Massachusetts, thus creating the first English settlement in New England.
Per Host, the Norwegian explorer, shows some of the film he took during his visit to Europe's last remaining primitive people-the Lapps-who live in the far north of Norway.
The Rev. Austen Williams invites you to think about the meaning of Good Friday.
Easter weekend is the traditional time for the British to get to work in their gardens and today Percy Thrower suggests jobs to do over the holiday.
F. P. Knight, the Director of the Royal Horticultural Society's Gardens at Wisley, introduces a subject particularly appropriate at this time. He shows some of the plants mentioned in the New Testament, several of which have been specially flown from the Holy Land for the programme.

When Caiaphas, the High Priest, learned that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem for the Passover Festival he called a meeting of the Council of the Sanhedrin to decide what was to be done with this 'prophet of Nazareth' who was causing such a disturbance among the people and the religious life of the country; and although opinion was divided, Caiaphas was convinced of his duty. 'It is to your advantage', he said to the Priests and Pharisees, 'that one man should die for the people rather than that a whole nation should perish'. Meanwhile through wildly cheering crowds Jesus rode into the city.
