Fifteen nations are represented in this 'Wimbledon of Badminton' and more than two hundred and fifty players have entered. Among the entrants is Wong Peng Soon, the thirty-four-year-old sports-goods salesman from Singapore, who won the Men's Championship in 1950-51 and in 1952. This will be his first appearance in England for two years.

The boys appearing tonight are the survivors of an original entry of almost a thousand. Each contestant has won his own provincial association championship and a semi-final bout this afternoon. The contestants come from Wales, the Southern counties, London, the Northern counties, and the Midlands. This is the first time the finals have been held outside London.
