a ballet by Antony Tudor.
Music by Prokofiev
with Sally Gilmour, Walter Gore, Sonia Arova, Joyce Graeme, John Gilpin, Petita Pasley, Michael Bayston, Stanley Newby, Harry Cordwell and full company with full orchestra conducted by Leighton Lucas

The Ballet Rambert was formed under the direction of Madam Marie Rambert in 1926. The company has included many famous dancers such as Markova, Frederick Ashton, Anne Tudor, and Pearl Argyle.
The company spent most of the war years working for the Council for the Encouragement of Music and the Arts, taking the ballet all over the country to audiences who had never seen it before. Recently the Ballet Rambert completed an eight weeks' tour of Germany for E.N.S.A.
It has a large repertoire of the classics as well as modern ballets by Frederick Ashton, Walter Gore, Anthony Tudor, Frank Stass, and Andre Howard.
"Gala Performance", which is being televised tonight, is the work of Antony Tudor, with music by Prokofiev. It is a work admirably suited for the television screen and one which should appeal to all viewers whether they are seasoned ballet fans or newcomers to this medium of artistic expression.
