The series showcases the Oscar-winning artist in a recent, exclusive interview, and explores his Blue Note career as a jazz pianist and his pivotal role in the Miles Davis quintet in the 1960s. Plus his maverick work in 70s jazz-funk, his chart-busting industrial and hip-hop/funk experiments in the 1980s (Rockit) and many other aspects of his career. Contributors include guitarist John McLaughlin , who discusses the bond between
