Roger Daltrey profiles legendary - Mississippi-born singer/ guitarist Bo Diddley (born Otha Ellas Bates McDaniel), who uniquely imbibed rock 'n' roll with the blues and influenced diverse acts such as the Smiths, U2, Bruce Springsteen, and George Michael. His double-A-sided 1955 debut single - Bo Diddley/I'm a Man - reached number one on the US R&B chart. Contributors include Dave Davies, Tom McGuinness (of Manfred Mann), Wilko Johnson (of Dr Feelgood), Marshall Chess and Bo Diddley, whose name refers to a one-stringed African guitar.
