Songsmiths Leo Black concludes his series looking back on his years as a BBC producer. Today, some of the great British singers in songs by Zelter, Brahms and Schubert. Also a few of the many continental singers who came to the BBC studios in the sixties and seventies. Today's singers include John Shirley-Quirk , Heather Harper , Ruud van der Meer, Agnes Giebel , Peter Pears and Sheila Armstrong.
Between the songs, Andre Tchaikovsky plays Schubert's Twelve Lancer D790 and his Notturno in E flat, D897 is performed by the Suk Trio.
