A summer season of works staged at the Paris Opera, 1828-65. 3:Lajuive Set in 1414, Jacques Fromenthal Halevy 's epic opera, confronts antisemitism, inter-racial relationships and a father unwittingly condemning his own daughter to death in a cauldron of boiling oil. It was one of the Opera's greatest hits, with almost 500 performances in the 50 years from its premiere in February 1835.
