by NORMAN M. MACDONALD The traditional Gaelic song. Ailein Duinn. is the lament of Anna Chaimbeul of Scalpay for Allan Morrison , who was drowned at sea while on his way to their wedding. One legend says that
Anna died of a broken heart, and while her body was being taken by sea to the burial ground, a storm arose and the mourners were forced to throw the coffin overboard. Allan's body was found on the Shiant Isles and a few days later the body of Anna was found beside him.
