A music-drama in three acts by Richard Wagner (sung in German)
In the final part of Wagner's'Ring' cycle, Briinnhilde sends Siegfried off down the Rhine in search of new heroic deeds; but when he arrives in the world of men the curse, placed by the dwarf Alberich on those who own the Ring, takes its toll. Only when the hero is dead and Briinnhilde sacrifices herself on his funeral pyre is the curse lifted, the gold restored to nature and the world redeemed by love.
