Sir Monty Finniston , Chairman of the British Steel Corporation, takes a scientific approach to his choice of records: ' It's a bad scientist who's not prepared to listen and who is not prepared to modify his attitudes after he has listened.' In Mozart he sees the ' technical excellence of the young,' in chamber music by Saint-Saens ' a small group of people working together in close harmony,' and in Beethoven's Emperor Concerto ' professionalism under the most difficult circumstances.'
