(1875-1947)
An appreciation by RICHARD BEBB Some of the most remarkable records ever made are those of Reynaldo Hahn , the close friend of Marcel Proust and the idol of Parisian society in the 1890s. With only a thread of a voice he nevertheless had a technique and a musicianship that place him firmly among the great singers. A man of amazingly diverse talents, he is unaccountably neglected today.
In this programme, In which his music is revalued, the recordings are of Hahn himself or of artists he greatly admired.
