The Radio 4 Generation
'We don't really understand Northern Ireland - what's really happening out there?'
'No one bothers to explain Belfast anymore - what's ordinary life like? Why can t we find out for ourselves?'
The Radio 4 Generation were all first time voters at the last election. Radio 4 is following the progress of these 200 young People over the coming decade. When the 'troubles' in Northern Ireland began most of them were preschool toddlers.
When they first met in June, most were curious about the Province. Now they're in Belfast to find out for themselves and to exchange perceptions with their counterparts from the Six Counties.

The composer
Alexander Goehr , Professor of Music at the euniversity of Cambridge, was born in Germany in 1933 and brought to England as a baby. He talks to the television film maker, Barrie Gavin , about his early life and music in Britain which developed alongside his own career.
