The Art of the Story-teller Certain people have the knack of telling a good tale. But what is it that makes it so endearing? Is it something in the tale itself, or is it in the telling? In this final programme, Toni Arthur examines the art of creative story-telling.

' It's a totally selfish life. You're fed, clothed and you've got security. It's far more difficult to come out than stay in, believe me.'
' I spent the entire day weeping before I left the community. But it becomes a question of honesty. I could not stay in without doing violence to my own soul.'
In spite of its problems, women still come forward every year to try to live ' the perfect life Frances Donnelly talks to nuns, past and present, Catholic and Anglican. about why they entered a religious community. and in many cases, why they ultimately left it. Producer SALLY THOMPSON

A series of five programmes in which writers and travellers consider the pleasures and perils of their journeys.
4: Kailas - The Sacred Mountain
A little to the north of India, across the jagged rampart of the Great Himalaya in the southern-most portion of Western Tibet stands the sacred mountain of Kailas. Had a religious map of Asia ever been drawn, many of the thin red lines tracing the principal pilgrim routes would have been seen to converge on this remote and remarkable peak.
In the spring of 1936 the Austrian writer and traveller HERBERT TICHY , in company with CHATTER BHUJ KAPUR, undertook a pilgrimage to the mountain. John Snelling tells the story of their hazardous journey.
