The Story of a Postal Parent
What happens when a charitable sponsor in Britain wants to actually meet the Third World child she's helping? This is what a London woman. Clare McCarthy , wanted to do. For three years, she had been sending a pound a week through a charity to sponsor the education of a little Indian boy. As the bond grew, she decided she had to fly to India - to see him and his village.
Journalist Dennis Shutte accompanied Clare on her long trek to rural Andra Pradesh , recording her graphic impressions of childhood poverty along the way. And what of the encounter ... what did sponsor and child make of each other face to face?
